Nelson Saucer is a saucer-shaped lamp that complements the space with warm light scattered by a light, white, relief-shade that seems to levitate the air. It is a project inspired by a series of Swedish Bubble lamps from 1952. The lamp is sold without a bulb.
Born in Connecticut, USA, George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the most influential figures in the breakthrough early days of modern design. Trained at Yale as an architect and an accomplished artist, he believed that the designer's job was to improve the world, using the excellence of nature's creation as his guide. Two years of development in Rome after receiving the prestigious Rome Prize allowed him to establish contact with the world's leading modernists, including Le Corbusier, Mies Van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Gio Ponti and many others, which helped shape his career as a writer and industrial designer who changed the course of history.
