Porcelaine Figurine Stork by H. Jędrasiak for AS Ćmielów

Porcelain figurine Stork designed in 1960 by Henryk Jędrasiak. Contemporarily produced by AS Ćmielów. It was handmade from the highest quality porcelain and then hand-decorated with ceramic paints by painters. The product has a special protection in the form of under-glazed and glazed signs. The products manufactured in our factory have, among others, the factory logo underneath. The figurine is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, which includes information about manual production and decoration, as well as information about the product (name, name of the designer, year of design). In case of figurines, a unique product number is additionally entered into the certificate (assigned according to the factory marking systems).

The first figures were designed by the Institute of Industrial Design around 1955. A group of designers, including Henryk Jędrasiak, Lubomir Tomaszewski, Hanna Orthwein and Mieczysław Naruszewicz, were tasked with designing intimate ceramic sculptures to decorate a modern interior. In total, about one hundred models were created, which depict mainly animals, less often people.

In 1938-1939 Henryk Jędrasiak studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology, in 1946-1950 at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (diploma 1953, T. Breyer's studio). In 1955-1964 he was a designer at the Department of Ceramics and Glass of the Institute of Industrial Design. It was here that, together with Mieczysław Naruszewicz, Lubomir Tomaszewski and Hanna Orthwein, they developed a style of porcelain chamber sculpture - they simplified shapes, eliminated small decorative elements. Jędrasiak has developed more than 20 designs of intimate ceramic sculpture - the most popular models include, among others: Girl sitting, Sudanese, Sex bomb, Fish, or Rhinoceros, as well as fancy forms, including multi-armed vases. He also dealt with monumental sculpture, author of, among others: fountains at the Palace of Culture and Science, tombstones of K. I. Gałczyński and J. Tuwim at Warsaw's Powazki.

Editor's notes

Figurka Marabut to piękna, syntetyczna i uproszczona forma sylwetki, w której można dostrzec chęć przedstawienia charakterystycznych cech zwierzęcia. Mimo, że zaprojektowana pół wieku temu, wciąż zachwyca i wpisuje się w nowoczesne wnętrza.
