Snail Porcelain Figurine by H. Orthwein, AS Ćmielów

Porcelain figurine of a snail designed in 1957 by Hanna Orthwein. Nowadays it is produced by AS Ćmielów. It was handmade from the highest quality porcelain and then hand-decorated with ceramic paints by painters.


The figurine is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, which contains information about manual production and decoration, as well as information about the product (name, surname of the designer, year of design). In case of figurines, additionally to the certificate, a unique product number is entered (assigned according to the factory marking system). The product has a special protection in the form of glazed and glazed signs.


Hanna Orthwein was born in 1916 in Warsaw (died in 1968). In 1935-1937 she attended the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw, then the Blanca Mercere School of Fine Arts (1937-1939), and in 1948-1951 she was a student at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in Professor Julia Kotarbińska's ceramics studio. Between 1956 and 1966 she was a designer in the Ceramics and Glass Department of the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw. Author of about 33 models of chamber ceramic sculpture, among others: "Pair of penguins", "Gibbon".
