Sowden Bottle 0,35 l Blue by G. Sowden for HAY

The blue bottle from the Sowden collection was designed by Georg Sowden. At first glance, contrasting colours appear, creating a distinctive character of the container. In this design, however, functionality is as important as visuality. The bottle is made of stainless steel with a plastic cap. It can hold 0.35 litres of both hot and cold drinks. Sowden bottles are thermo bottles, so that after filling, the cold drink will be cool to 24 hours and hot to 12 hours. This is important information especially on hot days, because especially then it is worth having cool water to cool down.

George Sowden studied architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art. In the 1970s he moved to Milan to work with brands such as Ettore Sottsass and Olivetti. In the 1980s he became one of the founders of the Memphis Group design collective. He won many design awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award. Today he still lives and works in Milan.
